The URNRD provides conservation education to youth of the district regarding water quality, conservation, and stewardship. Utilizing hands-on activities, children are learning how to become involved and are encouraged to further develop their knowledge of conservation.
Nebraska’s NRDs annually host a natural resources camp called Adventure Camp about the Environment (ACE). ACE is open to students who have who have completed 6th or 7th grades and want to learn more about natural resources at an adventure camp. The areas campers will learn about: aquatics, forestry, range ecology, wildlife and soils/land use. Campers will experience hands-on activities with a variety of speakers and explore possible careers in natural resources. ACE also includes adventurous activities for campers such as a zipline, tanking and tubing, a campfire and many other games! ACE is currently being hosted at Camp Kaleo in Burwell. Camp is $235/camper and includes meals, lodging and activities.
The URNRD is offering full scholarships to attend the camp. To apply, fill out the application below and return it to the URNRD office in Imperial.
