Large Solar-Energy Proposal On NCORPE To Be Presented To NRD Board

Monday, February 10, 2025

The Upper Republican NRD Board of Directors will be presented with plans for a solar-energy project on NCORPE land in Lincoln County in advance of a final NCORPE vote on the project expected Feb. 19. The public is invited to attend and provide input.

If approved by the NCORPE Board of Directors, the solar project could eventually cover several thousand acres of NCORPE’s land in Lincoln County and be one of the largest such projects in the U.S. NCORPE, a streamflow augmentation project designed to keep Nebraska in compliance with the Republican River Compact, is an interlocal government agency comprised of the Upper, Middle, Lower and Twin Platte NRDs. Developers of the proposed solar project say it would provide energy to a large liquid fertilizer plant planned for Gothenburg.

The Upper Republican NRD meeting where the solar project will be discussed is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 18 at the NRD office in Imperial, 511 East 5th Street.
